According to this list, Minecraft has been tried on Apple’s M1-based MacBook Air and runs at 100+ fps under Rosetta 2 which would be some upgrade compared to the 20+ fps I get on my 2014 Air. They’ve also tested Monument Valley which basically covers the gamut of my video-gaming needs.
If I am reading this right, according to Geekbench the feeblest of Apple’s new MacBooks is approaching 2.7× faster on single-core and 5.9× on multi-core compared with my current 11ʺ (early 2014)—not to mention double the RAM. Caveat being that I don’t think I would achieve the milti-core speed-up on my typical workday dominated by editing and compiling. No information yet on Minecraft frame rates.
