The PACK.PNG project was an attempt to discover the world seed and location of a landscape fragment used as an icon in Minecraft from the cropped, downscaled screen grab from an obsolete version of the game. This video describes the collaboration of 3,500 people to define and search what was in effect the cryptographic keyspace whose plaintext was that particular hill.
