Discórdia is a serif face with a bold that is slightly reverse stress and an italic that has no stress, all of which combine quite harmoniously despite their contrasts. The bold italic is a surprise outlier, with a kind of inside-out stress.

Discórdia by Naipe - Future Fonts Discórdia is a type-family of contrasting contrasts. Each of the four members of the family has a different contrast type. Regular has broad-nib contrast, Bold has horizontal contrast, the Italic is monoline, which means it has no apparent contrast, and Bold Italic is... Well, it’s probably best if see for yourself. These different design structures were fine-tuned to work well together in the same line, creating emphasis and hierarchy through a mini-super-family that groups a wedge-serif Regular, a slab-serif Bold and a sans-serify Italic. B A C K G R O U N D Designed by Álvaro Franca (www.alvarofran.ca), Discórdia started out at the Advanced Typography MA program at EINA (https://www.eina.cat/en/postgraus/master-en-tipografia-avancada), in Barcelona 🇪🇸 Developed originally for use in magazines, the goal was to create a concise text family that blurred the lines of type classification, mixing things that normally don’t go together but which could be persuaded to play nice this one time. 🎉 We are happy to report that Discórdia was a selected project in the 8th Tipos Latinos (https://www.tiposlatinos.com/) Biennal of Latin-American Type Design! 🎉
